Artist Opportunity: $100 to Participate in Evaluation Project

The Assets for Artists program is recruiting Berkshire County artists in all disciplines to participate in a survey and evaluation investigating the economic impact of our work. If you’re a “low- to moderate-income” artist in the Berkshires (and if you have NOT enrolled in the Assets for Artists matched savings program), you can receive a $100 stipend to share information on your household income, credit history, housing circumstances, and workspace needs. It should take about 20 minutes of your time to complete the survey and send off the documents. Participation in the study does not prevent you from possibly enrolling in the Assets for Artists program in the future, and all information will be kept strictly confidential and used only for evaluation purposes.

The study is intended to help the program partners better understand the financial conditions of local artists and evaluate the relative impact of the training and matched savings grants provided through Assets for Artists, now in its third year of operation with an innovative model to promote the financial success of working artists.

Eligibility for the study is based on household income: a four-person household with adjusted gross income of no more than $65,000 (as documented on a federal tax return) will be eligible. Income limits are lower for smaller households.

Artists in any discipline who would like to discuss eligiblity for the study should contact Blair Benjamin at MASS MoCA (413-664-4481 x8104 or blair). The deadline is October 22, 2010 to submit your information, and slots are first-come first-serve, so don’t delay. And please share this information with other artists who might be eligible to help us strengthen the Assets for Artists program in the future.
