Come Celebrate!

When: Saturday, October 17th ~ 8:00pm – Midnight
Where: Berkshire Art Kitchen, 400 Main Street Great Barrington, MA
Bring: Your favorite beverage + a few $$$ for the cause + a kiss for the Birthday Girl!
Note: Park along South Street, just south of the house off Main Street – or in the Smith, Watson & Company parking lot next door.

OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH.
Abuse is everyone’s problem and everyone’s responsibility.

Please join me this Saturday to dance the night away with DJ BFG and help raise funds to empower others to Walk Unafraid!

I’ve devoted the past eight years to this project and the Walk Unafraid kits will soon be available to students, organizations and activists worldwide. Every time a Walk Unafraid public art installation is created, tens of thousands of people in the host community are empowered to speak out, recognize and prevent abuse.

I plan to take Walk Unafraid to Copenhagen for the UN Summit on Climate Change Conference in December, collaborating with thousands of representatives from around the world sharing their views on the rape of the environment as well as their solutions for climate change. In April I will be participating in the Amnesty International Human Rights Art Festival in Silver Spring, MD as well.

I’m asking all my friends who are coming to the party to consider making a contribution to the fund. My aim is to raise $50,000 in order to produce 500 kits to take on the road and to make available through partnerships with national organizations. To that end, I am kicking off a month of fundraising events to reach that goal.

So come have some fun, check out the great new art pieces in the gallery, bring your favorite beverage — and your dancing shoes!

I’ll provide the great music (courtesy of the incomparable DJ BFG) plus the BAK Autumn Screwdriver and yummy birthday cake.

It will be an opportunity (for me) to finally let loose after this intensely focused summer of manifesting Walk Unafraid into a cool project kit that can be done anywhere by anyone.

I hope you’ll come celebrate the joy!
